Training & Awareness
UKATA-aligned asbestos awareness training for staff, dutyholders, and contractors.

When Is This Required?
CAR 2012 Regulation 10 requires anyone who may disturb asbestos to receive appropriate information, instruction, and training. Refresher training is required annually.
Who Needs This?
Purpose
To ensure staff, dutyholders, and contractors understand the risks associated with asbestos and their legal responsibilities under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
Comprehensive Overview
Asbestos awareness training is a legal requirement under Regulation 10 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 for anyone whose work could foreseeably expose them to asbestos. This includes maintenance workers, building managers, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, IT installers, and any other trades or facilities staff working in buildings constructed or refurbished before the year 2000.
UKATA-Aligned Asbestos Awareness: Our core awareness course is aligned to the UKATA (UK Asbestos Training Association) syllabus and covers the properties of asbestos, its health effects, where ACMs are commonly found in buildings, how to recognise potential ACMs, what to do if you encounter or accidentally disturb asbestos, and the legal framework governing asbestos management. The course equips attendees with the knowledge to work safely in buildings that may contain asbestos.
Dutyholder and Manager Training: For building managers, facilities managers, and dutyholders, we deliver extended training covering the legal obligations under CAR 2012 Regulation 4, how to read and interpret asbestos survey reports and registers, how to implement and maintain an asbestos management plan, contractor management and permit-to-work systems, and how to respond to accidental disturbance incidents. This training is essential for anyone with responsibility for managing asbestos in premises.
Contractor and Trade-Specific Sessions: We provide tailored training for specific trades and contractor groups, focusing on the ACMs they are most likely to encounter in their work, practical identification techniques, safe working procedures, and emergency response. These sessions are particularly effective for electrical contractors, plumbing teams, roofing companies, and general building maintenance staff.
Toolbox Talks and Site Briefings: Short, focused briefings delivered on-site before specific projects or maintenance activities commence. These talks cover the asbestos information relevant to the planned works, highlight ACM locations from the building's register, and reinforce safe working procedures. Toolbox talks are an effective way to ensure asbestos awareness at the point of work.
Annual Refresher Training: CAR 2012 requires that asbestos awareness training is refreshed at regular intervals. We recommend annual refresher training to maintain competence, update staff on any regulatory changes, and reinforce safe working practices. Refresher courses are shorter and focus on practical application and recent case studies.
All training is delivered by experienced asbestos consultants with real-world survey and project management experience, ensuring practical, credible content that resonates with attendees.
